UGC NET – National Eligibility Test is directed twice in a year for the selection of meriting candidates for the posts of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in Indian Govt. Universities and Colleges. NTA UGC NET exam is conducted in the month of June & December every year.

UGC NET Exam Date Announced by NTA

NTA has released a notice related to the dates of various examinations to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). According to the UGC NET notification, the UGC NET 2020 June assessment will be led from 16th to 18th September and 21st to 25th September 2020.

In this Blog, I will talk about UGC NET Notification and UGC NET Eligibility. So, without wasting any time let’s get started.

UGC NET Notification 2020

On 16th March 2020, National Testing Agency (NTA) released UGC NET 2020 June notification for the post of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). With this, the online application process for UGC NET June 2020 commenced. UGC NET online application window started on 16th March, 2020. UGC NET 2020 June last date for submission for Online Application has been extended till 30th June, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

UGC NET 2020 Exam Date

On 20 August 2020, NTA released the new Exam dates for UGC NET 2020 June Examination. According to the latest notification of the National Testing Agency (NTA), UGC NET 2020 June exam is scheduled to be conducted from September 16 to 18 and September 21 to 25, 2020. Earlier it was scheduled to conducted between 15th to 20th June, 2020 in two shifts but it can be delayed due to a lockdown in India. The important dates for UGC NET 2020 June are as follows:

  • UGC NET Notification was released on16th March 2020
  • Release of Application form – 16th March 2020
  • Last date to Submit UGC NET Application – 30th June 2020 (up to 04:00 pm)
  • Last date to Pay UGC NET Exam Fee – 30th June 2020 (up to 11:50 pm)
  • Correction in particulars of Application Form on the website only – 30th June
  • Downloading of Admit Cards from the NTA website – September 2020
  • UGC NET 2020 Exam Dates – September 16-18, 2020 and September 21-25, 2020
  • The duration of the UGC Exam is 180 minutes (03 hours). There will be no break between Paper 1 & Paper 2
  • Timing of the UGC NET Examination – First Shift: 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and Second Shift: 02.30 pm to 05.30 pm
  • UGC NET 2020 Result Date – to be notified later

Exam Schedule of UGC NET

The UGC NET June 2020 Exam schedule is as follows:

  • Dates of Examination – September 16 to 18 and September 21 to 25, 2020
  • Timing of the UGC NET Examination – 
    • Shift 1: 09.30 am- 12.30 pm
    • Shift 2: 02.30 pm- 5.30 pm
  • Duration of the UGC NET Examination – 3 Hours
  • Entry timing into the UGC NET Exam Centre – 
    • Shift 1: 7.30 am – 8.30 am
    • Shift 2: 12.30 pm -1.30 pm
  • Entry in the UGC NET Examination Hall/Room – 
    • Shift 1: 8.45 am- 9.00 am
    • Shift 2: 1.45 pm- 2.00 pm
  • Instructions given by the invigilators – 
    • Shift 1: 9.15 am -9.25 am
    • Shift 2: 2.15 pm- 2.25 pm
  • UGC NET Test Commences – 
    • Shift 1: 9.30 am
    • Shift 2: 2.30 pm
  • UGC NET Test Concludes – 
    • Shift 1: 12.30 pm
    • Shift 2: 5.30 pm

UGC NET 2020 Online Application

The online application for the UGC NET 2020 June has begun on March 16, 2020. The last date of online application for the UGC NET June test is June 30, 2020. No application will be acknowledged after the last date of accommodation. The cycle of online application will comprise of four stages. Applicants should remember the underneath:

  • NTA will provide candidates a chance to correct their application
  • The size of the photograph must be between 10KB to 100KB and the signature size should be between 4KB to 30KB
  • The dimensions of the photograph must be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height)
  • The dimensions of the signature must be 3.5 cm (width) x 1.5 cm (height) 
  • There is no need to send the printout of the confirmation page to the authority office

UGC NET 2020 Application Fee

For different categories the application fee for the UGC NET exam 2020 is different. The application fee is not refundable or transferable once paid. It can be paid through a credit/ debit card or e-Challan. All the candidates paying through e-Challan have to make the cash payment in the bank. The category-wise fee details are mentioned below:

General/Unreserved: Rs. 1000/-OBC-NCL: Rs. 500/-SC/ST/PwD/Transgender: Rs. 250/-
